Education
America's education system must properly prepare folks to enter the workforce. Whether it be K-12, post-secondary, or workforce education, we have a responsibility to ensure we are setting students up to succeed and that they are equipped to meet the demands of their future careers.
Parents have a right to be involved in their child’s K-12 education. I appreciate the great work of our educators, but it is the parent who knows what’s best for their child. Parents need to know what is being taught in their child’s school, the school’s budget priorities, and what measures are taken to protect their child’s privacy and keep them safe.
As a Member on the House Career and Technical Education (CTE) Caucus, I’m working to promote and expand access to CTE education. We live in a world where not everyone needs a four-year college education that requires students to take out massive loans that they spend the rest of their lives paying off. We absolutely need to make college more affordable, and CTE education provides folks with a different avenue to secure in-demand, good-paying jobs.
As Chairman of the Economic Opportunity Subcommittee on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, I’m focused on making sure veterans have a smooth transition back into civilian life after their time of service. I’ve introduced numerous bills including the Veterans Education Transparency and Training Act to cut through VA’s bureaucratic red tape to allow veterans to easily access their education benefits and the EMPLOY Vets Act to ensure veterans are receiving the information they need to secure employment.
