Veterans

Our veterans have made great sacrifices for our nation, and we are forever indebted to them for their service.

I am a 100% disabled veteran and receive my health care through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA), so I have firsthand experience with their services. While VA offers important care and resources, there is room for improvement to provide veterans with the best care possible. I am proud to serve on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs where I am working in a non-partisan fashion to deliver the results veterans deserve.

What our veterans experienced while serving our nation can follow them back home and take a troubling toll on their mental health and overall well-being. The suicide rate among veterans is alarmingly high, which is why I’m committed to ensuring those who served know they are not alone. This includes connecting veterans with support groups, amplifying research for addressing veterans’ mental health, and utilizing a comprehensive strategy that gets them the resources and support they need.

As Chairman of the Economic Opportunity Subcommittee, it is my top priority to secure effective pathways for veterans to successfully reintegrate back into civilian life. Whether it be streamlining the pathway for post-secondary education, creating new avenues for employment and training, supporting veteran-owned businesses, or removing barriers to obtaining housing, I’m working tirelessly to provide our veterans with new opportunities to succeed.
