ONALASKA, Wis. (WXOW) - The the office of republican Congressman Derrick Van Orden hosted a military service academy day at the Onalaska Omni Center.
Representatives from five U.S. military service academies provided local students, parents, and teachers with a space to learn more about the nation's military service academies.
Attendees had the opportunity to inquire about the application process, and get any questions they may have answered.
"You'd be undergoing rigorous academic studies", says Van Orden's military legislative assistant and Navy veteran. "On top of that simultaneously preparing yourself for the service so there is a physical component as well. It's a very unique aspect. I would say a little bit different from the college experience but a very rewarding one at that."
The Air Force academy, Coast Guard academy, Merchant Marine academy, West Point military academy, and the Naval academy were among those at the event.
