Van Orden Statement on 2023 VA Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Derrick Van Orden (WI-03) released the following statement after the release of Department of Veterans’ Affairs 2023 Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report:
“The findings in the VA’s 2023 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Report are deeply troubling. I have lost many friends and teammates to suicide, and this report emphasizes that there needs to be a change in how we address mental health challenges among veterans. Our veterans need to know they do not have to fight their battles in silence, which is why I am incredibly proud to have my Warrior Call Resolution pass the House. Checking in with the veteran in your life, asking how they are doing, and having an open conversation with them is sometimes what they need – they have to know that there are people in their life who care and are there to support them.”
