EAU CLAIRE (WQOW) - Congressman Derrick Van Orden visited Eau Claire Monday to celebrate a $10 million grant. Earlier this month, Van Orden, along with the U.S. House of Representatives, secured $26-million from the federal government for Wisconsin's Third Congressional District.
Van Orden visited the Eau Claire Event District to celebrate obtaining $10-million for Eau Claire County to reconstruct County Road T, which was included in the grant package. This project will double the size of County Road T, growing it from two lanes to four, and making travel safer.
"The federal government is responsible for making sure we have interstate commerce, or in this case it turns out, it's intercounty commerce. So I'm incredibly proud that we've got everybody here working together from all the different townships, cities and villages," Van Orden said.
The Representative says President Joe Biden officially signed the grant into law, and the money is secured in the hands of the Chippewa Valley. He says the project is around 30% designed.
Eau Claire Event District, which is located off of County Road T, holds major events like Country Jam and the Reverb Music Festival, bringing thousands of people to Eau Claire and onto that road.
